Pamlico Sound, Rodanthe: Day 1
Yesterday evening, Martin and I waded the Pamlico Sound in the town of Rodanthe in hopes of catching a few Specks. The air has been buzzing with reports of the best trout fishing in ages. After prying a few 'hot spot' coordinates from our buddy at the Hatteras Jack tackle shop, we had a good idea where we needed to be. The choice of tackle being a cork popper sporting a three inch white Berkley Gulp Mullet; adjusting the leader between the cork and jighead, keeping it just off the bottom. I think the fish count is up to five or six. Even though we're not catching the size or numbers the charters are, we're having a blast. Watching these trout push bait onto the flats is exciting to watch. Tomorrow morning, Martin and I are headed out with Captain Steve Gwin of the Hang On to try our hand at some real Speck fishing. Hopefully, we will have good footage to post soon!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to join the crew for the charter this morning. Martin and four other guys caught 30+ Specks, Greys and Blues...Not a shabby morning. Good job guys!
