For a while now, we have been trying to coordinate a hunt with a group of guys from Richmond. They won the bid on a goose hunt which was auctioned off at a DU banquet a couple of years back. We scheduled to hunt last winter but both blizzards plus the deep freeze inhibited us to host the group. Finally, we were able to setup a date.
This past week, we only had a handful of birds using the farm. And most birds not showing up until late morning so we were very nervous we would be riding a gar hole. Fortunately, the strong winds kept the birds moving and we had a decent hunt. As one of the guys said after the hunt, "the number of birds killed is not a true representation of the hunt." We watched the most beautiful sunrise, killed a few birds and met a great group of sportsmen. Thanks to the guys from Richmond for supporting Ducks Unlimited and wetland conservation!
