Late Season at the Shore

Thursday afternoon the whole gang headed north to the Shore....Friday morning, we hunted an impoundment for ducks and geese.  We had 30 knot winds, blue skies, while temps hovered around freezing.  At daybreak, we had just a handful of ducks fly in.  The geese were flying well....but we really had to work for our keep.  We eventually limited out on Geese and waited for the ducks.  This hunt defined riding the hole....we sat from daylight to dusk and killed 11 mallards, black ducks and a pair of gadwall.

This is where things got tricky....We were not sure where we were going to be hunting on Saturday.  After making dozens of phone calls, it looked like it was a bust.  But, after a great dinner and a few cocktails, a plan commenced to formulating.  Carrington, Martin, Will and our guide Chris headed south to Oxford.  We hunted the bay in a box blind on the shore.  Our hope of canvasbacks was shortly lived as a steady flurry of buffleheads worked into range throughout the morning.  The rest of the gang met up with us late morning as we finished up with a bucketful of buffleheads and three geese.  All in all, it was a great trip.
"Welcome to the Eastern Shore....Now Go Home!
