Friday's Duck Hunts

Saturday morning, Stuart and Carrington spent the morning floating the river.  With bluebird skies, 50 degree temps and not an ounce of wind, it didn't make it a favorable morning.  The boys ended up killing a black duck, two mallard drakes and a woodie drake.
Huntin' in da hood...

Martin and I hunted further downriver on an overgrown island.  I scouted the area earlier in the week, and the island was surrounded with ducks and geese.  At daybreak, we had three mallards dump in, we killed one....that was the last bird that would get remotely close to the spread.  We probably saw 50+ birds, but they were all landing 200 yards up river in deep, rocky water.  I think we need to get a Decoy Spread For Dummies book....but I'm going to blame it on Martin's bald head.  --Will
Everytime Martin would start in on a clementine, the ducks would start flying.  So, we ate up every clementine we had...still didn't bring'em in.
We gave a new meaning to riding the hole....we sat on the island until 1pm...killed one duck.
I think we were riding a garhole
