"Reap What You Sow" -HELM Dove Hunt Video

HELM Dove Hunt

Last Saturday, Carter Hilliard of Hilliard Estate and Land Management invited the guys from GarHole to hunt a true dove haven here in Central Virginia.  Carter and his team at HELM strategically planted sunflowers which hosted a powerline.  As the afternoon dwindled away, the doves lit up the sky, keeping the young retrievers, "Obie" and "Chester" on their feet.  The final count was around 90 birds with hundreds still dumping in after we called it a day.  A big thanks to HELM for a great hunt!

HELM does an incredible job constructing specialized food plots; for deer, turkey, upland game, waterfowl and everything in between.  Or, if you just need help managing what you already have, give them a call!

September Dove Shoot

Saturday, the boys had a phenomenal dove shoot!  They hunted the same field a few weeks back and had a decent hunt, but the numbers just weren't there like they had been in past years.  As you can see, Stu, Martin and Carrington had a hunt to remember!

Summer Scouting: Footage of "The Eight"

This past week, the four of us scouted our lease and discovered this tall, wide eight.  The field was thick with bucks.  It's hard to say how big some of the others really are because this one in particular is on a fast track to being an absolute giant!

First Scouting Report of 2011

This past week, I was able to glass one of our farms for the first time.  With heat indexes well over 100, the deer waited 'til last light to start feeding in the fields.  Some of the footage is quite grainy, but filming deer 500 yards away through the thick, humid air is a challenge in itself!  My hope is to update our scouting report with video footage once a month until archery season.  -Will
